Caroline Derbyshire is a respected figure in the education sector and the CEO of the Saffron Academy Trust, which includes 9 schools in Uttlesford and Braintree. She is also a National Leader of Education and chairs the Headteachers’ Roundtable.
Caroline is passionate about providing high-quality comprehensive education and promoting social justice. She is known for being willing to challenge education policy that impedes these goals.
Caroline is participating in the Ofsted Inquiry because the Headteachers’ Roundtable has long held the view that the current Ofsted system does not support school improvement and needs to be reformed. The practice of grading schools and the negative impact it has on teachers’ well-being is of particular concern.
She hopes that the inquiry will result in a credible and effective proposal for a new accountability system that supports schools in their work to provide children with the best possible education. Caroline believes that all children should have access to a great school.
