Jim Knight, The Rt Hon Lord Knight of Weymouth, is a well-known figure in the education, digital technology, and legislative sectors. He is the Chair of the trust board of E-Act Multi Academy Trust and the chair designate of the Council of British International Schools. He is also a director of Suklaa Ltd, a company that provides education-related advice to clients.

Jim is also a board member of Century-Tech, MACAT International, and Educate Ventures Research Ltd. Additionally, he sits on the advisory bodies for Nord Anglia Education and BETT.

As a former government minister and MP, he was responsible for rural affairs, schools, digital, and employment portfolios. He was a member of Gordon Brown’s Cabinet before joining the House of Lords in 2010, where he regularly speaks on education and technology policy.

Jim has agreed to chair the Ofsted Inquiry into school inspection because he believes that the current system of school inspection is inconsistent, creates staff stress, and distorts behaviour away from better outcomes for children and towards better inspection outcomes. Therefore, he hopes the inquiry will achieve a clear understanding of the problems with the current inspection system and a deliverable way forward for ensuring schools deliver a quality of education that meets minimum standards and improves the life chances of all children in England.
