Ofsted inspections claimed to be unfair

he pressure group Beyond Ofsted, an independent inquiry chaired by former Labour Schools Minister Lord Jim Knight, has today published a survey that finds that most teachers that get a good inspection report and those that get a bad one think that Ofsted reports are unfair and inaccurate.

The key findings from the report are:

1. Two-thirds of teachers describe Ofsted inspection of their school as inaccurate, including majority in Good or Outstanding schools.

2. Only one in ten ‘winning’ schools report positive experience with Ofsted.

3. 92% of teachers say Ofsted is not a reliable and trusted arbiter of school standards.

4. 89% say Ofsted inspections are not a valid method of measuring school performance.
